Mama and Baby Herbs
Mama and Baby Herbs
Wild remedies for wise mamas and their little ones
The women before us knew exactly which plants to reach for. Which herb settled a windy, colicky belly. Which oil soothed a rashy bottom. Which bath brought sleep to a baby who’d forgotten how.
This is the workshop that remembers it all for you.
Mama and Baby Herbs is a practical, hands-on herbal workshop for mothers who want to build a home apothecary for themselves and their babies. No overwhelm. No chemistry degree. Just the plants that have tended mothers and their little ones for centuries, made simple and accessible in your own kitchen.
It works as a standalone, or as a natural sequel to Preparing for Postpartum.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
• How to use herbs safely alongside breastfeeding: what’s safe, what’s not, and why
• The key herbs for mama: milk supply, emotional recovery, energy and the womb’s healing after birth
• The key herbs for baby: windy and colicky tummies, sleep, nappy rash and sensitive skin, with herbs traditionally used to support the skin’s natural healing, and winter immunity
• Age-by-age guidelines, so you always know what’s suitable for your little one
• How to make your own remedies: teas, herbal baths, balms and gentle glycerites for children
• When a home remedy is enough, and when to call your doctor or clinic
• How to build a simple home apothecary without spending a fortune
WHAT YOU’LL TAKE HOME
Five handmade remedies, made together during the workshop:
• Milk Maker Tea Blend: a blend of galactagogues, the herbs traditionally used to support milk supply, to brew at home daily
• Elderberry Winter Syrup: a warming elderberry syrup, traditionally used to support healthy immunity through winter. Elderberry has also drawn wide scientific interest for its role during cold and flu season. Simmered and bottled together (for ages 1+).
• Calm Tummy Blend: a gentle herbal tea for mama, with fennel and chamomile, traditionally used by breastfeeding mothers on windy, unsettled, colicky evenings
• Herbal Bath Soak Bag: a muslin bag of soothing herbs and salts for mama’s or baby’s bath
• Nervous System Tea Blend: a calming blend for the depleted postpartum nervous system
Plus a full printed workbook with herb profiles, age guidelines, methods and recipes: your permanent reference for every stage of motherhood.
