Bengkung Belly Binding Ceremony

A hands-on postpartum ritual to support your healing journey.

Offered in-person by a trained doula, this ceremony includes three home visits over one week (every second day – for example, Monday, Wednesday, Friday).

Belly binding is a sacred and traditional practice that gently supports the physical and emotional closing that begins after birth. It’s not about bouncing back — it’s about honouring your body, holding what was opened, and helping you feel contained, grounded, and supported as you step into motherhood.

Each visit includes:

Abdominal massage with warm, herbal-infused oil

Traditional Bengkung belly binding with a soft cotton wrap

A healing herbal tea or postpartum tonic

Emotional support, grounding, and care

The benefits of belly binding:

Encourages womb and pelvic healing

Supports posture and gently realigns the body

Reduces the feeling of emptiness in the abdomen

Aids digestion and elimination

Provides emotional containment and a deep sense of being held

Gently supports recovery after a caesarean (once the incision has healed)

When to begin:

After a vaginal birth: From day 1–3 postpartum, once bleeding is stable

After a caesarean birth: From week 2–3 postpartum, once the incision is fully healed and comfortable

Investment: R3,400

Includes:

R1,000 – Product Bundle (valued at R1,180)

Handmade 100% cotton Bengkung bind, womb massage oil, and herbal tea blend

R2,400 – Three in-person visits

R800 per visit (includes hands-on care and travel within Cape Town South)

If you feel called to receive this support, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you in your postpartum journey.
